Things happen. It is a fact of life. Sometimes those things can throw the most annoying, untimely kinks into our plans. I’m not the type to panic when a curve ball or two comes my way but I would be lying if I said I was never bothered by disruptions.
The fun side of blogging is the writing, sharing and interacting with others.
That’s the up side.
As you know, every up has a down.
For me, the not-so-fun part of blogging involves the technical stuff, especially when the technical stuff breaks. Or has a hiccup. Or simply disappears.
Yeah, that has actually happened. A vital technical component vanished from my work website weeks ago…the site who’s maintenance is my responsibility. One day it was there. The next day it was not. It is a very long, sad, I-almost-went-to-jail kind of story. One I would share but I’m still recovering from the horror. It involved the disappearance of our image galleries, the loss of potential revenues and me searching for a bottle of vodka, a sledge hammer and a new job.
In the end, it all worked out. A new Plug-In was found and the galleries were rebuilt. My job is safe…for now. By the way, I still work for Mr. Boss Man. The one I wrote about HERE and HERE. To my surprise, his response to the crisis couldn’t have been better. I think the look of panic and rage that was planted on my face for four straight days was a clue that he should play nice.
When glitches occur on my company site, it is a really big deal. We heavily rely on the internet for potential clients. When trouble strikes, getting things back up and running is of the utmost importance. Technical troubles with my blog don’t carry the same level of “code red”. But they do cause me to lose sleep as I mentally explore all possible fixes.
For over a month I have had a technical issue here on the old blog. I wasn’t even aware there was a problem until several blog readers reached out to me. It seems Feedburner, the service I use to deliver my posts by email, quit working sometime in April. At least I think it was April. Either way, anyone who subscribed to my blog has not received updates since. And that just makes me sad.
So… for the past week, I have spent all of my blog writing time researching other options and things are back on track once again. The service I now use is SO much better. It took a lot of my blood, sweat and tears to find the solution but it was totally worth it. I suppose you could now color me happy!
If you have subscribed to my blog in the past, expect to see my posts returning to your inbox. Should that not be the case and you happen to find yourself here by some other means, please let me know. I have subscribed myself in order to hopefully catch any other glitches. But sometimes my best source of information is you guys.
If you happen to be a reader who is on the fence about subscribing, go ahead and take the leap and sign up. It is a painless process and you can always unsubscribe at any time. All you need to do is click HERE, fill out the form, verify you aren’t a robot or some other spammer by clicking the link in the email provided then wait for my next update.
To all of you, I cannot thank you enough for taking the time to read and comment. You are the main reason I keep writing!
