Driving to work today the sun was shining. Given it has rarely made an appearance of late, I couldn’t help but feel happy. It was as if the rays were planting smiles on my heart.
I said a quick prayer of thanksgiving and was then reminded of something I once saw written on a message board beside my daughter’s bedroom door. I remember the impact the words had on me at the time. Even now, several years later, I frequently remember them.
I love you!
What are you up to today?
I want to be part of it.”
I will never forget the moment I discovered these words so sweetly written in my daughter’s handwriting. So simple..yet so profound. Posted beside her door as a daily reminder of how she wanted to approach each day. It left me wanting to start my every day in the very same manner.
Today, this was my paraphrased version of those words.
Today I’m not gonna ask you for a thing.
I simply want to be with You.
Wherever you are, that is where I want to be.
I love you, Lord.
It’s gonna be a great day!”
As I continued down the road, storm clouds became evident in the distance.
By the time I got to work, they were all around.
But my brief encounter with the sunshine had brought me to the place I needed to be.
And when the rain came…
I simply smiled…
Because those smiles placed on my heart by those glorious rays were replaced with a peace that only He can bring.
Happy Monday everyone!
